Here are some examples of extraordinary youngsters who are making a success of life despite all the odds. They all know the hardships of growing up in poverty. Athi has a long list of great achievements. Probably his most live changing moment was, when the University of Johannesburg saw him rowing for Nemato and offered him a sports bursary to study.

He dropped out of school and had little hope for a better future, but in our programme he showed remarkable talent for coaching and working with people. He is now working for Nemato Change a Life and studying for Community Development Practicioner at Rhodes University.

After two years out of school an opportunity came along: study Early Childhood Development at Rhodes University. She started our own Nemato Change a Life Pre-School, which is probably the only pre-school in our townships that takes education very seriously.

As a litle boy he did scary jumps on the street. We saw it and decided to start a gymnastics club. What an amazing success: he is now our gymnastics head coach and he went to Junior World Championships.
